Pancur Aji Waterfall (Riam Pancur Aji)

Need a holiday ? Need an interesting place ? We have one for you. Located in Sanggau, it has beautiful scenery. We’re calling it Wisata Alam Pancur Aji.

Pancur Aji is located in Sanggau, in the middle of West Kalimantan. It is 12.857 km or 12,47 from all of West Kalimantan. It takes 30 minutes with motorcycle or car from Sanggau. In the way to the Waterfall Pancur Aji we are through the winding roads and mountainous recreational areas besides waterfall Pancur Aji. There is existing zoo in  Sanggau region such as crocodiles, the forest, birds, heron, snakes, deer and other.

Before entering the waterfall area we pass through the gate and pay for tickets. Because I used a motorcycle to visit Pancur Aji I've paid Rp.6000 for entrance fee. Our next road is parking which cost 1000,and take about 5 minutes from entrance gate to waterfall.

Every holiday there are many visitors who visit the waterfall. The atmosphere is very cold and the view of water is beautiful and the current is very swift, the waterfall was suitable for rafting. there are also shops which selling food and souvenirs typical Sanggau such as bead necklace beads, key chains and bags woven from rattan and bamboo, etc., and the food in the form Lempok durian, lemang, dodol, and there too there are orchards where you can pick own and buy for the take home for souvenirs.

Panjur Aji also offers us mountain Water River like charm Merobu, Engkuli, wind, Kenian, Setapang, Mongan and Mawang River. A fairly swift river current is one challenge that is interesting to explore. There are tourism object in Pancur Aji location including natural beauty, authenticity of the forest that offers a natural freshness.

Kelam Hill (Bukit Kelam)

Kelam Hill, Here we come

Hm, Kalimantan always present the beautiful object for visited. Located in Sintang, Kalimantan Barat, Kelam Hill is 520 ha. Kelam Hill located between Melawi river and Kapuas river. Kelam hill has beautiful scenary and fresh air. Because of that, it became one of the object tourism. Tour or travelling should not be expensive and just for fun. It can be an educational facility in teaching us to careour healthy environment. Through eco-tourism or nature based tourism we mayrealize how important a healthy fresh air and good weather are. 

Bukit Kelam Eco Park is one of the options of eco-tourism object with its uniqueness and great scenery. Bukit  Kelam is one of the exotic natural objects in Sintang, West Kalimantan, Indonesia. Behind the charm and exotism of thistenerbrous? Kelam hill, there is a pretty interesting legend which says that it used to be a seacoast tenebrous.

Once upon a time in Sintang, there were two leaders who were highly powered. But, both of them had contrast characteristics. The first man named Sebeji or well-known as Bujang Beji. He had a very bad temper and greedy. On the contrary, the other man, Tumenggung Marubai, was a kind person. Both of these men were a fishermen, although sometimes they also worked as  farmers.

Bujang beji and his followers handled the river in Simpang Kapuas, while Tumenggung Marubai held the other one in Simpang Melawi. Tumenggung Marubai trapped fishes in Simpang Melawi river using bubu (fish’s trap) so that the fishes in that river would never be extinct. When he knew it, Bujang Beji was jealous of Tumenggung Marubai. So that he went to Simpang kapuas river to trapfishes through menuba (catching fish by poisoning the river). He did not realizethat catching fish this way made all of the fishes in the river, were in danger. All of the fishes would be gone and its number would decrease day by day.

When he found that number of the fish in his river was decreasing, Bujang Beji became more and more jealous. Then, he tried to blocked the water which was flowing to Simpang Melawi river by putting big stones in hulu Simpang Melawi river. So all of the fishes could not swim to that river and he hoped the fish wouldreturn to hilir Simpang Kapuas river.

Bujang Beji decided to take the peak of Bukit Batu in Nanga Silat, Kapuas Hulu. With his power, he took the peak of those great stone hill. Because of Bukit Batu was very far from Sungai Melawi, he tied the peak of the hill with seven pieces of ilalang leaves. On his way to Sungai Melawi, Bujang Beji heard a woman laughing at him.  That woman was an angel. When looking at the angel, he steppedon a thom, and the leaves which were tied the hill’s peak was broken. The peak then fell and sank in a place named Jetak. He tried to take the peak back, but he failed.

Bujang Beji was very angry to the angel who made him fail to take the peak to Simpang Kapuas. Then he plant a tree named Kumpang Bambu to reach the heaven, where the angle was. Before he climbed it, he made a little ceremony of Sesajian Bedarak Begelak by feeding all of animals and devil around him. But, there were animals which did not get the sesajen: Bear and rayap.

These animals were angry because they thaught that Bujang Beji was unfair. So they tried to make Bujang Beji fail in his way to go to the heaven. The tree was fell and hit the hulu of Kapuas river. Bujang Beji, who was climbing the tree, also fell and dead. Finally, Bujang Beji failed to revenge to the angel. Tumenggung Marubai also saved from his evil plan.

Then, on the other side, the peak of the stone hill which was taken from Nanga Silat by Bujang Beji returned into Bukit Kelam. And the long hill which was he used to re-took the peak from Jantak returned into Bukit Liut. The place where Bujang Beji step on thom was name Bukit Rentap.

There it is, the legend of Bukit Kelam, a folklore from West Kalimantan, Indonesia. This legend has at least, two moral values. First, the impact of being bad temper and full of jealousness. And the second value is how important discussing and sharing are in order to get the best decision. Through this story we can learn to not to be like Bujang Beji who had a very bad temper. His characteristics is not able to be followed in our life.

Keraton Kadariah ( Kadariah Palace )

Hello ladies and gentleman. Rizky, the Traveller Kid from West Kalimantan, Indonesia is back to shared the information about his hometown. Now, it's time to give the information again about my hometown. This time is about the historical place, Kadariah Palace.

This palace is one of the heritage buildings of Kadariah Kingdom government. The palace is located in the city center Pontianak so you will easily find out if you visit Pontianak. The palace is standing near Kapuas river and visited by many people in the afternoon. Many local people who came in the afternoon to spend time and waiting for maghrib. Visits to this palace is also one optional tours that you can do in Pontianak.

Kadariah Palace Pontianak is the central government of the past, the strong structure building made from solid wood, founded by Sultan Syarif Abdurrahman Alqadrie in 1771. This palace gives a special attraction to the visitors by saves a lot of artifacts or historical objects like jewelry which used from generation to generation since several times ago. In addition, the collection of the throne, cannons, ancient objects, glassware and faded family photos, depicting the life of the past.

There is a pulpit made of wood, and there is also a French antique mirror in the main hall and often called as "thousand glass". Sultan also left a treasure-trove of heritage and other heritage to family members who are still there, to be maintained and cared for. Kadariah palace is located in Kampung Dalam Bugis, East Pontianak districts, and can be reached in less than 15 minutes from the center city of Pontianak.

Danau Biru (Blue Lake) Singkawang

It's a nice day, isn't it ? hehe. This time I will share to you the new interested place in Singkawang city, not really new but it's very interested to visit. Danau Biru (Blue Lake) Singkawang.

Biru (Blue) Lake tourism is located in Roban, Sekip baru, Singkawang, West Kalimantan. Why is this lake called Lake Blue? It because this lake has blue water. Biru Lake is one of interesting, unique and exotic tourist attractions in Singkawang.

The location of Biru lake is about 6 km from the center of Singkawang city. You can get there by motorcycle or car about 30 minutes from Singkawang city to the lake. According to local residents, there are many youth visitors in the afternoon an enjoying the sunset. Many of the local residents during the holidays bath and swimming in the lake, especially the children.

This lake is unique. Its blue color looks contrast in the middle of grassland and desert. Settled in the middle of an arid landscape with white sand color, you can see the forest border and oil palm plantation within a radius of 2-3 kilometers from this area.

The visitors can enjoy its nature scenery, beautiful charm with sky blue and blue waters as well. The green grassland, leafy palm gardens and arranged in a neat, green mountains, mounds of desert, rocks formed by rain water, and many other unique things.

This blue water lake is actually an illegal gold mining a few years ago. Now this place is no longer attempted to mine and turned into a lake with blue water looks. Actually all of this objects is the effects of environmental damage that results in beautiful scenery. Perhaps the term nature, "gives the lesson behind the damage inflicted by the miners".

Equator Monument

Hello everyone. This post I will share the interesting place in my hometown (Pontianak city). One of most popular icon in Pontianak city is Equator monument. In my opinion, if you have journey to Pontianak, it will uncomplete if you not visit the equatorial monument. Because this monument is the icon or the main landmarks of Pontianak. If you want to visit this monument, you can find it at Jalan Khatulistiwa, North Pontianak. It is about 3 km from Pontianak city center.

Make sure you visit this monument at the right time so that you can see the unique of natural phenomenon at this location. When the sun has the right position on the equator, the sun culmination will occur. At the moment, you will not be able to see the shadow objects, as well as the shadow of the monument which will disappear in a few moments. This was caused by the sun's position is really on a straight line with our heads. If you want to find those moments, you have to come to this monument at around dated March 21 to 23 and 21 to 23 September because of the event is only happens 2 times a year. The crowning event of the sun culmination can be seen only about 5-10 minutes. While waiting for the culmination, in the equatorial monument Pontianak held a series of traditional events which attended by local and foreign tourists.

Gunung Poteng (Mount Poteng)

Hi, hi, hi everyone. I'm very happy to post again. Now I will give you an information about Mount Poteng.

Mount Poteng tourism is located in Poteng, Nyiurunkup, East Singkawang, West Kalimantan. Mount Poteng area is the most clean water source of Singkawang city since Dutch era years ago. This mount is often known as thumb because its shape looks like a thumb just imagine a sign like in your facebook rotated clockwise turn, looks like the shape of a hand with a thumb nail. This scenery can be seen as a form of mount Poteng, and this is the origin of the name of this famous mountain. The mount is located in a nature reserve area of Raya Pasi. Of course, when you hear the word nature reserve, imagine what kind of treasures saved by the mountain which became a source of clean water in the city.

Various types of flora was grown and preserved in this area. Some rare plants were often present when you traverse this area, there are Rafflesia Arnoldi flower aka corpse flower, orchid Singkawang, Star flower and other flowers.

In this area, also live animals such as bears, pangolin and porcupine. Variety of animals and plants that adorn the tourist area of Mount Poteng make us feel like stand in free jungle since it first arrived at this place.

If you like to make an adventure activity, this is the right place. Here, you will meet many people who have the same goal to climb and crawl. Mount Poteng tourism area which is located about 9 kilometers in the eastern part Singkawang is still very natural, so explorer your adrenaline and climbers to be able to conquer this place. Nature reserve covering 3,700 ha area with a row of mountains like Mount Sebayung, mount Tinjau Laut, mount Nek Pading, mount Gamber, mount Mancar Silat, mount Beor, mount Ibu, mount Poteng, mount Pasi and Mount Raya are certainly a very interesting challenge to be conquered.

After your hiking to Mount Poteng this, of course, you will feel exhausted. Please drop back towards to Singkawang city center and stop in Hongkong market at night. There, you will find various kind of Singkawang culinary, such as; Gunting porridge, cattle porridge, Sotong Kangkung, spicy noodles, Maki Karamak, various noodles, and others who are ready to fill your hungry stomach. Hong Kong market area is open after 6 PM.

Profile of West Kalimantan ( My Hometown )

Hi everyone. How was your life ? I hope you are always blessed. Now this time I will shared a little bit information about my hometown, West Kalimantan.

West Kalimantan Province is located in the western part of Borneo island. Based on the specific geographic location, West Kalimantan traversed by the Equator (0 ° latitude) precisely in Pontianak city. Because of this condition, West Kalimantan has become one of the tropical regions with high temperatures and humidity. The other specific characteristics of West Kalimantan region is as one of Indonesia province that is directly adjacent to neighbor country, namely the State of Serawak, East Malaysia. Even with this position, the area of West Kalimantan is the only province in Indonesia that have officially access road to enter and exit to other country. This can happen because between West Kalimantan and Sarawak have an open inter-state road Pontianak - Entikong - Kuching (Sarawak, Malaysia) along about 400 km and can be reached about six to eight hours by car.

Generally, the mainland of the province was low-lying and has hundreds of rivers which are safe navigable, slightly hilly that extend from west to east along the Kapuas valley and Natuna Sea / Strait Karimata. Most of the land is swampy mix with peat and mangrove forests.

This land area is flanked by two mountain ranges, namely, Mountains Kalingkang / Kapuas Hulu in the North and Schwaner Mountains in south side, along the border of Central Kalimantan.

Rivers And Lakes

West Kalimantan commonly dubbed as 'Thousand Rivers Province'. The nickname was aligned with the geographical conditions that have hundreds of large and small rivers which can and often navigable. Several large rivers has become the main line for hinterland transportation, although land road infrastructure have been able to reach to most of the districts.

Lake Sentarum has extensive 117,500 hectare but sometimes nearly dry in the dry season, as well as the Luar Lake, which about 5,400 hectares. Both of these lakes have good potential as a tourist attraction.

The Mountain

Influenced by a vast lowland, the heights of the mountains are relatively low as well as non-active. The highest mountain is Mount Baturaya in Serawai district, Sintang regency which has 2,278 meters height.

Lawit mountain located in Kapuas Hulu, Embaloh Hulu district and first known in West Kalimantan, was only the third highest mountain because it has 1,767 meters high, while the second highest is Mount Batusambung (Ambalau district) with up to 1,770 meters height.

The Islands

Although a small part of West Kalimantan region is the ocean, but West Kalimantan has dozens of large and small islands (mostly uninhabited) which scattered throughout Karimata Strait and Natuna Sea that borders the province of Riau, Sumatra.

The major island such Karimatan Island and Maya Island, Penebangan Island, Bawal Island and Gelam Island in Strait Karimata, Ketapang regency. Other major islands include Laut Island, Betangin Tengah Island, Butung Island, Nyamuk (Mosquito) Island and Karunia Island Pontianak district. Most of these islands, especially in Ketapang district is national park and protected area or conservation.

Riam Merasap Adventure

Okay, everyone, how 's your life ? exciting, happy, bad, boring or die ? haha, just kidding, I just hope you're blessed. Now I will share again and again about my experience about my trip. This time I will share my fantastic trip to "Air Terjun Riam Merasap" (Riam Merasap Waterfall).

Riam Merasap Waterfall is the waterfall located in Desa Pisak, Kecamatan Tujuh Belas, Kabupaten Bengkayang, Kalimantan Barat. Riam Merasap Waterfall altitude of about 27 meters and a width of approximately 200 meters. There are 2 route to Riam Merasap Waterfall. If you are from Pontianak (capital province of West Kalimantan), this is the difference

1. Pontianak - Sei Pinyuh - Mempawah - Singkawang - Bengkayang - Sanggau Ledo - Tujuh Belas = 350 km.
2. Pontianak - Sei Pinyuh - Anjungan - Menjalin - Bengkayang - Sanggau Ledo - Tujuh Belas = 300 km.

I prefer you to use second route because the road asphalt is very good and shorther than first route.

Now let's begin my story
Randi are goes to Brunei to work and I have a idea to bring him to Riam Merasap Waterfall before he depart. A night before the trip, we're sleep in Zulham's house. Unfortunately, Zulham didn't joined our trip because he had a badminton event in the same day. Finally, at 3.00 am, Me and Randi leaved Zulham's house and went to Riam Merasap.

We enjoyed the cold sensation and very excited because it's the first time we start the tip very early. The risk is we will misguided because we didn't well about the location and I just know the location from google maps.

At 7 am, we're arrived in Bengkayang (capital of Bengkayang district) and we take a rest at coffee shop. We are very happy because the people is so friendly and the scenery of Bengkayang is very great.

Bawang Mountain

At 7.45 am, we leaved Bengkayang and to Sanggau Ledo before we arrived in Riam Merasap Waterfall. We ride faster like Marc Marquez. The road is quite but hilly. And also the road width is not too narrow like Anjungan-Bengkayang route. We ride carefuly although we're ride faster like Marquez.

More less 2 hours, We saw a signboard that directly we're arrived in Sanggau Ledo and we saw a crossroad. We are confused which is right way to go to Riam Merasap. Finally, we asked to local people and they said the way to go to Right Side of the crossroad and needs 20 minutes to arrived in location.

25 minutes gone and we arrived in Riam Merasap Waterfall, but in parking area (LOL). You must walked 10-20 minutes to reached the Waterfall. Finally we got it, but in the top of the waterfall. We want to go down but there's no way to go down. We try to find away and we got it, but again we must be careful because the ground is dangerous and slippery. In the end, we did it, we are arrived. Subhanallah, Amazing. That's the words I said first. Finally, we swam and feels happy. So memorable and very fantastic trip that I ever do :D

Trip To Air Terjun Tikalong (Tikalong Waterfall)

Hi Everyone, This time I will share my story again about my trip to Air Terjun Tikalong (Tikalong Waterfall). I will shared little information about Air Terjun Tikalong. Air Terjun Tikalong located in Kecamatan Karangan, Kabupaten Landak. The height of waterfall is more or less 10 metre. It is uniquely because it's located not far from main road.

Okay, that's the little information about Air Terjun Tikalong, now let's start the story :D

At 4.00 am, Me and Zulham (my friends) goes to Air Terjun Tikalong. We are worried before we start our trip because I didn't got detailed information about Air Terjun Tikalong. I only see and know about the village (Karangan - location of air terjun tikalong) from google maps. We started our trip and it was very cold because it was dawn but we're enjoyed the trip.
Around 5.45 am, We take a rest at coffee shop in Anjungan village and take cup of hot coffee to warms up our body.

Hmmm, Tasty 

Around 6.10 am, we leaved Anjungan and go to Karangan village ( Air Terjun Tikalong ). Oh yeah, The route of the trip, if you start from Pontianak you will get a route like this, Pontianak-Sei Pinyuh-Anjungan-Menjalin and Karangan. It spend more or less 3 - 3,5 hours from Pontianak. When you're entering Toho Village, you must be careful because the road is too narrow and hilly. The challenge does not end and you must very careful because many animal traffic like pig, dog, chicken, catand many other. If you're hitted these animal you will get a local punishment (hukum adat). But the bad habit from me and my friend we're don't care about it and we feels get a lot of challenge. Although we're afraid with pigs.
Along the road we can see beautiful scenery of mountain and paddy field. And the road traffic (vehicle) is quiet

Tiang Tanjung Mountain

Finally, at around 8.30 am, we're arrived in location. You can see the entering gate like this on right side if you're from Pontianak.

But, when we're arrived in Air Terjun Tikalong, Zulham was very worried because he saw something like pig in the waterfall area. I saw it but when I see it, that's not a pig, but it's a plastic -_-.
We entered the waterfall area but no someone else in there. So we're entered free and easily. 2 minutes later, we're heard the water (you know lah) and we got it, Air Terjun Tikalong (Tikalong Waterfall) . We didn't wait anything, we're payed in waterfall and enjoyed the sensation of waterfall. The facilities is only a toilet so if you want to eat, bring at home or paid at coffee shop beside the road along the way :D
